How to buy
Conditions of Sale
The
following conditions are understood to be acknowledged by all persons participating in the
auction, whether bidding in the room on their own account or executing commissions for
others or submitting bids by post or fax.
Estimates are
in UK Pounds and opening bids will be about 80% of the lower estimate, unless there are
higher offers already sent. Bids lower than the catalogue amount will not be admitted. The
purchase price is in UK Pounds, together with a buyers premium of 15%, or, for
residents of the EU, 17.625% including VAT, with postage charges where applicable, the
total sum being due after the final bid and payable before delivery. Adjudication ensues
after the highest bid and commits the bidder to accepting the coins. Written bids have
preference over room bids. In the case of competing equal written bids, the first received
takes precedence. The Buyer cannot claim to act on behalf of a third party.
Authenticity of
the coins is unconditionally guaranteed, without time limit. All identifications of the
items sold in this auction are statements of opinion and made in good faith.
Except for
claims of lack of authenticity we do not accept claims after the successful bids have been
made. All justified claims of return must be written by the original purchaser within 8
days of receipt of the material; the claims will be taken into account only if accompanied
by the certified of an officially recognized expert, and the lots must be immediately
returned to Arsantiqva Limited in the original condition.
Our sale at
public auction is undertaken as agent, on behalf of the Seller. The contract for the sale
of the lot will be between the Seller and the Buyer.
Sold lots are
the property of the original owner until the Buyer withdraws them and pays the amount due.
If the Bidder fails to make the payment within 30 days of the auction date, Arsantiqva
Limited reserves the right to deem the sale incomplete and withdraw the materials that
have not been paid for.
Despatching of
purchases is normally registered and insured at the purchasers expense. The
purchaser is responsible for any dues or taxes outside the EU and is advised to acquaint
himself with the formalities. The auctioneer cannot be held responsible for
contraventions.
In the event of a dispute, the English
version of these Auction Terms shall be definitive.
The auction is held in London and any legal
questions arising shall be there determined.
The values are given in the catalogue in pounds sterling,
showing the range of valuations that we have attributed to the lots.
Opening bids will be about 80% of the lowest estimate.
The price list of accepted bids will be enclosed with next
auction catalogue.
