Coins and Medals Auction London 4th October 2001 Bond Street
Arsantiqvas second Auction will take place a month earlier than last year, on the 4rh of October 2001, a date that formerly belonged to the Sothebys coin department auction. On sale there will be a collection of Greek coins, important Roman ones (including an exceptional sestertius of Vitellius that is on the cover) and an interesting selection of European Renaissance, coins among which Italian and Papal. In the Greek section we must mention a selection of splendid Hellenistic coins and a group of rare Iberian coins, among them some made even more precious thanks to the fine green patinas. In the Roman section there is a rich selection of bronzes that have fine patinas and are beautifully coined. The portraits are noteworthy; among them the splendid sestertius of Vitellius stands out (on the cover); there are also a very interesting Domitian, Nero, Antoninus Pius, Faustina, Clodius Albinus and many more. In the modern section, the collectors will find a vast choice of European coins including Italian mints, a rich collection of the italian Kingdom with rare specimens. Among the Spanish coins a "Cinquentìn". The postal tariffs for Europe, inclusive of insurance, start from £ 9 for weight not over 500 g and insurance of £ 2,500. For anything heavier, or more valuable, we will make two or more packages, costing £ 18,27 onwards. For the USA we will make agreements with the buyer. |
